Why Apple Removed the iPhone Headphone Jack
They use a Lightning Port instead of a normal headphone jack. The Belkin website states that the device “supports one Lightning Audio device and one charger only”, so using the second Lightning port for anything other than charging might be a no no.
Apple just opened the pre-order for the new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus online at about 12:10am PDT.
“I didn’t even get the AirPods yet, but I already lost them”, journalist Joanna Stern tweeted.
Yes, but only if you are listening to music on wireless headphones – or spend $40 to buy an adapter. Because plugging in a wired headset is now impossible without a 3.5mm-to-Lightning adaptor (mercifully, included in the box with the new iPhones), going wireless is an easy and elegant fix. To save battery life, the AirPods have sensors that detect when they’re in your ears.
The earphones are meant to give up to five hours of play time before recharging, which occurs in a purpose-designed white wireless docking case. Honestly, it’s a little insane Belkin went to the trouble of making this adapter without a regular headphone jack in it.

And how much will the ability to listen to music while charging your phone cost?
Because Apple thinks it’s courageous. “And so the headphone jack, which – let’s face it – is just another plug to plug things into, becomes symbolic of Apple’s constantly changing products”. It is not about adding new features in the iPhone for sure because its smaller rivals have proven that they can add water resistance, a bigger battery, the fastest processor and yet have a 3.5mm jack in their phones. We’re now getting an idea of the pricing for this particular wearable, and it’s not good news.
