The next NASA Mars Rover could find life on the Red Planet

NASA might be able to determine whether or not there has ever been life on Mars.

NASA announced on Friday they are ready to proceed in the final stages of design and construction of the new Mars Rover, which should launch in summer 2020 and hit the Red Planet in February 2021.

The latest rover is set to explore and collect data of an ancient environment on Mars that could have been favorable to microbial life. The machine will collect soil and rock samples and save it until its return to Earth to determine if life was ever present on the planet.

The rover will look very much like its predecessor Curiosity, but will have new features allowing it to complete the first investigation into finding out whether there is oxygen on the planet and availability of resources for future human missions.

The six-wheel machine will also be equipped with cameras and microphones to visualize its landing on Mars, as well as hear the sounds present on the planet for the very first time.
