Calls from BSNL landline to any number in India absolutely free for today : Report
After announcing free unlimited calls on Sundays, state-run telecom operator BSNL has now shared that they will offer Unlimited voice calls to any number in India from BSNL landline on August 15 to celebrate country’s 70th Independence Day. Currently, BSNL offers free unlimited calls between 7 PM to 9 AM every day to their landline customers which was first launched in May 2015.
Announcing the Unlimited calling benefits, telecom minister Manoj Sinha said – “BSNL customers will be able to make unlimited free voice calls from their BSNL landlines to any network mobile and landline in the country on August 15 reports PTI.”
Though initiatives like free calling became popular plans for the company, it hasn’t helped much in attracting new customers when it comes to subscriber additions. BSNL’s falling fixed-line subscriber base now has 14.35 million customers with a market share of 57%.
A few days back, the company has also announced that they will offer new landline connections at a negligible cost of Rs 49 per month to attract more users from both rural & urban areas. The company is also offering a waiver on installation charges for fixed line telephones.
The Independence Day offer from BSNL is a good initiative, but as it doesn’t cover cellular customers, many wouldn’t enjoy the benefits. Private operator Aircel is also offering Unlimited calls and data at Rs 123 for the day while Jio is already offering unlimited data & calling benefits to their users.
