This Water Strip on your Phone Detects Liquid Damage! Here's How You Can Use It

Unfortunately, phones and water don't mix well. Even a bit of moisture takes a big toll on your phone's tiny electronic innards and make them useless.

The worst thing is most manufacturers won't cover water damage under the warranty. If at all you have caused any water damage to your phone, you need to take all the blame on yourself.



However, the manufacturers have come up with a possible way to help you out in the case of water damage. There are many sensors and indicators in the modern smartphones and one such indicator is the Liquid Control Indicator.

Well, the sole purpose of this is to detect and record watery contact. If there is any liquid damage caused to the phone, those sensors will turn red, and you can forget about any warranty-sanctioned repair.

The lithium ion batteries used in smartphones come with a water strip on them. Well, this is a small sticker that is white in color usually. If there is water damage to the battery, this strip will turn pink or red indicating that you shouldn't use the battery anymore.

You can try using the battery with a water strip that has changed its color with another compatible phone to know if its damaged. If the phone doesn't turn on, the battery is likely to be damaged. You can also try using a new battery in the phone you are using to check the same.

Check the battery on a different phone
For the iPhone devices such as the iPhone 6, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 5, iPhone 5 and the iPhone 5c. If you suspect that any of these devices become damaged from the water, immediately pull out the SIM tray and look inside the device. If you find the red indicator it means that you device has been damaged form the water.

If you are using the older iPhone device such as the iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 3G and the iPhone 3GS devices, then you should look at the LCI indicator in the headphone connector and the 30 pin connector port.

The LCI is located on the battery in the Samsung devices. The LCI will turn red, pink or purple if there is a water damage

In some smartphones such as the Note Edge and Droids, the LCI is located under the battery cover.
